Hi veteran train simmers,

I recently installed in my trainset folder the E9 CNR set (engines and passenger cars) available in the club members section, and then established a consist via Conbuilder Lite. For some unknown reason, I get no cab sounds (at least no horn) even though I have also installed the "E9 Cab & Sound" for UP CN & VIA set located on the same CN download page.

I'm using an ABA +passenger set consist. Any suggestions on why I might be missing out on sounds would be appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe you have problem with the lenght of the folder name, sometime windows don't like when the string is too long

"Common.Snd/BLW_Sound/EMD_Sound/E8_Sound/"

if you have experience for edit sms file try to reduce the name of all subfolder

ex: Common.Snd/BLW/EMD/E8/

but don't forget create the same folder

Thanks for responding, Gaetan. The files or folders that you mention are not being installed when I install these three downloads (E9CNR.xip, CNR_Set.zip, and cab.zip. After installation and use of Conbuilder to make my consist, I find that there is in my trainset folder a folder named GB_E9_CNR. Inside this folder is a CabView folder, Sound folder and various separate files - .ace, .s as to be expected.

In the CabView folder is file E9Unit.cvf
In the GB_E9_CNR Sound folder I find the following files:

E9_horn1 114KB Wave Sound 2/14/2003
E9B 38 KB SMS File 1/26/2006
E9cab 50 KB SMS File 1/26/2006
E9eng 38 KB SMS File 1/26/2006
x_E9_horn1 57 KB Wave Sound 2/14/2003

When I use Notepad to examine the various SMS files I find references such as:
Common.Snd/BLW_Sound/EMD_Sound/E8_Sound/Notch3.wav" -1 )

I did a search of my MSTS Trainset folder and found a Common.cab folder, with GB_E9Cab folder inside. It is aliased to the E9Unit.cvf.

I also found in my Trainset folder a Common.Snd folder with a folder named KLW_7seriesEMD within. (This folder contains a Read ME file and 14 different sound files, but nothing else--even though the Read ME document refers to an Alias_SMS Folder that should have two SMS files within. I find that this folder and mentioned SMS files is missing. I also do not find any file names such as BLW_Sound, EMD_Sound, or E8_Sound anywhere in my MSTS folders.

Am I missing something else not contained in the previously mentioned downloads from your site?

OK Rick , i add the wrong sms with the CNR , DL the CN (black & Red) and replace the sms of the CNR by the sms of CN

the right sound for the E8/9 club is in the KLW folder but you can use my
F9 L&N promo sound (much better) just need to rename the sms

I do appreciate the help, Gaetan! Strangely, this is exactly the kind of project that I need in order to gain confidence in my ability to swap out cab and sound files!
