This is a Heads Up for you guys that might be asleep at the switch.
Like many of you, I downloaded the ValleyPass members' free Promo BLW L&N F9 Loco Pack last February, but did not install it. I finally installed it this week and discovered it presented a completely new (custom) Sound package for BLW EMD F7/F9s. The diesel engine sound effects are STUNNING !! The sounds are Dead-On to the real thing. The loco revs up seamlessly from idle to new throttle setting and back, with no gaps in sound. The experience running this EMD engine is superior to ANY I have run so far; it is on a equal basis to BLW's payware ALCO Sound Pack issued last December -- the best ALCO sounds anywhere.
This custom EMD F soundset was created by Gary Gagnon using sounds captured from PI Engineering's TrainMaster 4.3 Demo package, with their permission.
Congratulations Gary on a job well done, and thank you PI Engineering for permitting use of your sounds.!
Thanks to Gaetan and Belanger Locomotive Works for providing the locomotives used with this new custom soundset release and providing the storage and bandwidth to allow the ValleyPass members access the archive, and for putting the installer package together. Without Gaetan's prodding, this soundset would probably be sitting in just a few computers.
Please read my next topic above for instructions on installing Gaetan's latest EMD F7 Loco package with these new custom sounds.

Stacktalk, thank you for the glowing review.
I sat on that soundset for almost two years although a few others had tested it. Gaetan heard about it from Fritz and volunteered the L&N locos as a way to release the sounds to the public.
Even though it consists of many different wav files, it's probably quite a bit less CPU intensive than "normal" prime mover sounds with their frequency and volume curves and perhaps multiple sounds being blended as well.
Initially, I did this just to see if sequentially played sounds would work and I feel it was very successful.
