Rick,

your list is impressive. I like especially the prospect of some C&O, Pere Marquette and Chessie engines "à la Gaetan & Rick".

Speaking of Red/White WM ...

I don't know if there are photos of sufficient quality available, but it sure would look great in MSTS!

Scott,

If you look around Gaetan's payware site, you will see what we have to work from at this time... EMD F & E units and Alcos. No EMD GPs no SDs and No GEs.

Based on that, there are not a whole lot of choices for CSX. I know they had F7s or F9s for business train use at some point, that would be my best guess for a CSX unit in this set. I would need to find photos.

As far as 512 x 512 textures, I'm not sure what that entails, I will have to discuss that with Gaetan. I'm guessing that would require some remapping of the models??

Uli,

Do you know if any other WM FAs were painted red & white?

Apparently #304 was the only Alco painted in the "circus scheme" by WM: http://www.moosevalley.org/wmrhs/wmroster.htm Sad

Uli,

Thanks for the link!! Do you have a source of info on what B&O/C&O/WM units were painted Chessie? I'm having a tough time finding a source.

Thanks

Rick

Rick, the texture files are the .ace files of the engines and cars. The engines are usually 1024x1024. Those are the texture files that I am talking about. The .ace files needs to be downsized to 512x512 instead of 1024x1024. That's all I'm saying.

Scott,

I've been reskinning for 3-4 years now, I know what .ace files are. Smile

What I don't know is if there are other considerations with the model shape besides just reducing the size of the ace files. I haven't attempted that yet.

Rick

well if you are going with this C&O/B&O etc. can we expect some heavily weathered B&O F-units? Very Happy There's nothing better (in my opinion) than a locomotive that reflects the work it does... then again, a dirty locomotive isn't reflecting too much. Laughing Rolling Eyes

Ah, the Pere Marquette. They had the first post-war streamliner, a double ended configuration with a Baggage, a baggage-RPO, a coach-obs running obs end forward, a coach, a diner with the kitchen in the center and two dining rooms at each end, another coach, and another coach-obs. The C&O liked what they saw well enough that they adopted the Pere Marquette style as their own. In 1950, business was good enough that they bought two additional coaches.

Here's a great piece of trivia: One of the 1950 coaches from the Pere Marquette was leased to the Western Maryland for company service. They painted it in the Circus colors! When Amtrak came in, that coach was leased to Amtrak and ran in service on Amtrak still painted in Western Maryland circus colors. See:

At any rate, this sounds like it's going to be a great set.

Rick,

the only mention I could find about Alcos which received the Chessie paint scheme was of four B&O S 4s http://www.trainweb.org/chessie/b&oalltimeroster.htm , but I could find no pictures.

No F-units or E-units were ever painted in Chessie colours according to what I have found. Sad

Uli,

Thanks for the information. I know that there were some Fs that were painted CSX for business train use. It's odd that they would have skipped over the Chessie scheme!

Former Clinchfield, not Chessie.
It would have been nice, though!
