With the long awaited release of the Buffalo route, I have been re-living a lot of old memories. I was surprised to see that the Chessie System was not included in either of the GP30 East packs, as GP30 in Chessie paint, often paired with B&O/C&O units were a common sight in this area on trains NI42/CG41 which traveled on EL rails east from Niagara Falls until the formation of Conrail. In later years, they traveled via the Niagara Branch and the Belt Line to the B&O's Buffalo Creek Yard. Just wondering if we might see a Chessie GP30 at some future date? _________________ Tim Baldwin

Hi Tim,
Great idea. We'll put our heads together and put out a bonus. Can't commit to a specific timeframe, but great idea.

The best photo I have of a B&O GP30 is of #6955, taken during a visit to Grafton, WV in the late '80s. It's partially obscured by another unit, but the cab lettering and number boards are clearly visible. _________________ Tim Baldwin

Those units look real good, but I always thought that the top (and Logo/wording) color was navy, not black?!? |

Alright, they now look perfect, but when I posted, I swear that there were different glamour shots that looked like they were faded black. The units were just a shot from shape viewer with a white background. Anyway, I may have been seeing things after too much egg nog! They look perfect now! |
