The New York Central ran from Saint Louis to New York, http://www.valleypass.com/Sales/NYC1.htm

Amtrak today runs that route from Saint Louis to Chicago on the Texas Eagle, http://www.valleypass.com/Sales/NYC1.htm and from Chicago through Indianapolis to New York on the Cardinal, http://www.amtrak.com/cardinal-train

Is this the same route as the Southwestern Limited?

Hi Jeff,

I can check, but I'm pretty sure the Southwestern Limited ran from Cleveland to St Louis... Conrail Indy route covers some of it

Hi Rick,

Thanks for checking. I found a site with a timetable for the Southwestern Limited at http://www.american-rails.com/sw-ltd.html

According to this timetable the train did not go through Chicago.

The Lake Shore Limited is the Amtrak train that follows the old Water Level Route from Chicago to NYC.

a.k.a The Late Sure Limited Very Happy

To bring this back around, the reason that we created the Southwestern Limited cars and consist in our 2001 NYC passenger set release was that the only available route that covered any reasonable portion of the NYC was Conrail Indy, the route of the Southwestern Limited (Marion, OH to Indianapolis).

Also the serendipitous accident that Gaetan had created the B&O observation cars that were used on the Southwestern Limited prior to being sold to B&O. Very Happy

Rick
