Another month gone by....and with it, just a quick check on any information for Buffalo update?

Thank you.

Skyline Computing forum says that the templates are still being done. I suspect the route and the templates will be released about the same time, along with any more rolling stock for the route.

Hi again Bookman,

Have written again to Teemu tonight and let's hope to have good news to come. I did wrote him a few times earlier since I got the route to report some route issues and they have been corrected by Teemu. Be reassured that it will be a treat running the route with Rick's set.

Will try post once I get some development.

Thanks

Denis

Hello to all,

I have received this morning from Teemu the first route update since receiving it three months ago, about 12MB. Unfortunately, he didn't shed any light as for an oncoming release.

After updating the route, everything looks good on my side in terms of the template project. All Erie Lackawanna templates are now finished, bringing the project to 41 templates (The Monon-2 v17 complete template package has 30). Only the Penn Central remains. See earlier post for the link to the project.

Hi Bookman,

Will try to reach Teemu for any development and give the latest news if any.

I have been rather quiet for the last month and also during some parts of Winter. My mother, who lived with me for the last two years, passed away a few weeks ago and took a lot of my time and energy to cope with her failing health. Winter has been tough. I was on her bedside when she passed away.

I am slowly resuming my different projects and am glad Spring is back.

The Buffalo Templates for AG are now complete and will be happy to see this route released.

Hello Reader60,

I have attempted twice in late March and May for news from Teemu but unfortunately no answer from him. Will wait a little and later this summer will try again hoping to have some good news.

While waiting for the route, may I suggest to download from Train-sim an earlier version of Buffalo he did a while ago in 2009? It is bufbeta2.zip

Of course, the oncoming version will be a lot better, but at least, all of us will be able to enjoy a little more the Buffalo set at home turf.

Thanks

Denis

I'm hoping someone has a clue as to what is taking to long to get the route and/or templates out for Buffalo.

Anyone?

Having been involved with a team creating a route I feel I have to point out that whilst your interest is obvious your understanding of the complexities and time taken for fault finding and testing is equally obviously lacking?

There are a few (who will remain nameless) who upload routes like they're from a belt fed mortar! IMHO most of them aren't worth the time and effort to download them or the disc space. A good well sceneried route with complex switching and signalling and some tested activities takes a long time. Quite often modifications can throw up previously unspotted errors and stuff has to be reworked.

You may be impatient for news but constantly posting that fact doesn't add much does it? Rolling Eyes

Thank you for your comments...

While I can appreciate your point of view, I am very much aware of the time and effort that goes into designing digital work -- having been much involved in same for several other sims.

The reason I am inquiring regularly (i.e., every few months) is to determine if the project is dead. If it is, then I'm ready to move on...if not, I'd like to enjoy it before the game becomes too "long in the tooth" to really enjoy -- sadly, it's fast becoming so as 3rd party enthusiasts are finally beginning to get inside RW and improve it flaws and faults (and thus helping to ease MSTS into the past).

I have been tweaking and editing MSTS since day one and still see many qualities that keep it alive on my PC's but its days are numbered. Still, I'd like to see what the Buffalo area could look like for that happens -- as no one has tackled the area in any of the other sim (so far as I'm am aware).

I did just discover that the route and templates were being discussed at SkylineComputing as recently as August, so perhaps I'll lurk around there and see if any news appears there as well.

Thank you for the response.

Cheers

Hi to all,

Great news!

Just to confirm that the route has been officially released at Train-Sim this morning.

For those using the Activity Generator software, you can check out the post under templates for some update on the Buffalo Templates project.

Thanks

Denis
