|

Hello guys I would like to see a few more engines added to the GP30 East Pack if possible. The engines that I would like to see are Chessie System, Seaboard System, Family Lines and C&O. Also maybe a CSX GP30 too.
I also would like to see a GP16 or GP18 set done. One of the engines I would love to see is a Seaboard System/CSX GP18 1066. Here is the link to a picture to know what it looks like.
http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/csx/csx1066aga.jpg. It was used for the OBannon Switcher at OBannon Yard for years. It went from OBannon Yard to La Grange and back and sometimes it went to Louisville and it also went to Avoca on the former CSX Old Road Subdivsion(now owned by RJ Corman)

CSX and predecessor GP30s are planned for the future. _________________ Max Brisben

Just to clarify, the first sets we tackle for a loco like the GP30 are roads from freight sets we have already covered.
Gaetan has completed GP30s for the BLW sets, for BLW/ZT freight sets, GP30 owners include NYC, PRR, C&O, and RDG (BLW already covered GN). We will also include some additional 'original owners' to fill out the set, specifically N&W Blue, NKP and Southern.
There will be a future set covering 1970s-80s, etc. mergers; Conrail, SCL, Chessie, Family Lines, CSX
As far as GP18.... I like the idea. I have already done LV, but there are a lot of other roads that could be covered.
Thanks

As far as the GP16, these rebuilds performed by SCL included replacement of the 567 engines with 645 engines. We do not currently have 645 sounds, so the creation of GP16s is less likely. If these replacements were just power assemblies (as with PC/CR?GP20M) that would be a different story.
Does anyone know for sure what SCL did in this remanufacturing?
Thanks

I believe they are similar to other Paducha rebuilds (the first six were in fact done at Paducha) and were only rebuilt with 645 power assemblies. They received chopped noses, new cabs, extended frames for an anti-climber on the front, Dash-2 electrical upgrades, new generators (I'm not sure they received alternators) re-wiring, installation of a paper air-filter and a liberated exhaust. When SCL started doing the rebuilds themselves, they just chopped the nose and fashioned their own number-board box. I believe the rest of the upgrades were kept in fashion. I'm not sure about any being refitted with 645 engines, though from the few videos I've come across of GP16s, they all sounded to still have 567 engines in them. _________________ Thom |

We have a GP16 here on the VRS, and that thing definitely has a 567 prime mover in it. _________________ Max Brisben
