I just noticed this small issue this afternoon on the gp30s and earlier geeps. I have other locos with fans that do rotate in OR, so I thought it would be worthwhile to bring it to your attention.

They all work fine in MSTS. There must be something in OR that's causing them not to work. I'm checking through my locomotive roster. I'll let you know what I find.

update: all of your EMD locos with fans seem affected. Hopefully, it is something that the OR crew can easily fix. I checked a random sample of units from other vendors and found some that were working, and others that weren't. Perhaps there is more than one method of animating fans, but that's beyond my knowledge.

The version of OR I'm using is the latest Supporters' download, X2778.

Digging around in the Open Rails section of Elvas Tower, I came across a 2013 thread that addresses the issue. Perhaps it will be of help to you.

That would be a lot of work for no gain. Working fans are a nice touch, but they are not a necessity. The fans look nice even without movement.

Has this issue been reported to the OR team, since it appears to be an OR issue?

The link in my third post above includes a thread related to the problem. There is a workaround.

Do we install these patches regardless of whether we run OR or just MSTS?
