Hello Rick. I am missing the SD9M_Step.sms file from the Sound folders of the SD9s. Do you all know where I can find it or where to get that sound file? Thanks.

I don't have that file either, any idea what loco is looking for it?
That doesn't look like a normal BLW loco sound file naming method.

Yes it is a BLW sound file because the error came when I downloaded the updated sound files for the SD9_East_Pack_Sound_Setup.zip & the SD9_West_Pack_Sound_Setup.zip. I used the sounds in the freeware SD9M 55 engine from the Train-Sim library. The error is found in either the SD9Eng.sms file or the SD9Cab.sms file.

OK. I have that engine installed. I used the BLW SD9 sounds for the freeware NS SD9M 55. The engine had GP38 sounds and I edited the engine file to use the SD9 sounds instead. In the engine file, I changed the GP38Eng.sms and GP38Cab.sms to the SD9Eng.sms and SD9Cab.sms and copied the Sound folder from a BLW SD9 engine to the freeware one. When I started MSTS and the activity that is when I got the missing sound error saying that SD9M_Step.sms file was missing. I hope you understand better what I am trying to explain on what happened.

Here is the Sound error I got from Conbuilder. I also included the engine file that I edited. I used the BLW Cabview and Sounds. It is the sounds that I am having trouble with.

Scott,
the freeware NS SD9M 55 uses three SMS files. Besides the usual cab SMS and eng SMS files, it uses "SD9M_step.sms" as a sound file for the passenger view. I don't have this engine installed, but from the position figures of the passenger view I guess it is an outside view standing on the rear right steps of the engine.
To get rid of the error message, you have to edit the ENG file of NS SD9M 55, replacing "SD9M_step.sms" by "SD9eng.sms" (the name of the BLW sound file).

Uli is right Scott, this is the line of the NS SD9m 55 virtual view
Inside (
PassengerCabinFile ( NS_SD9M_55.s )
PassengerCabinHeadPos ( 0.900 2.00 -8.800 )
RotationLimit ( 65 360 0 )
StartDirection ( 0 0 0 )
Sound ( SD9M_Step.sms )
) _________________ Gaetan
