The Southern Pacific rides its home rails again!

A few screen captures of my 'new' set of Southern Pacific passenger trains: BLW SP Pack1 & Daylight1. The route is the Redding XL2 (mine, under construction).
Captures by FRAPS registered version, on a Gateway desktop system with 256MB Nvidia video, 4GB ram, 32-bit VISTA™ Home Premium, and Intel duo core 1.86GHz.

Mike,

That is stunning! Surprised What is the scope of the route--between "where" and "where"? This would be another excellent addition to the "California" routes already available. Keep us posted! Very Happy

Thanks, Rick and Dave, for your kind words.

The XL2 is my personal screen-shot route, built based upon my freeware Redding XL route.

I am not an 'activity' man, nor do I run a train just to get from point to point. I like to stop and experience things as a tourist would, with no work orders or schedules. Casual sight-seeing was this route's main purpose, and to that end, I included lots of eye candy within the coverage area of the cameras.

I did extend the track of the base route, but had to strip off all the interactives to do it safely. The XL2 starts in Red Bluff (+31 miles south of Redding) and runs to Lakehead (+28 miles north).

The plan was to build it into the Siskiyou mountains with a stop at Dunsmuir; continuing north through the Cantara Loop, passing Shasta City and Weed; and ending in Oregon at Klamath Falls... But life always manages to interfere, so it is slow going... very slow.

I didn't mean to tease, but I don't think it could ever become a functional operating route, as it may be too visually intense for the average computer... I just thought it might be a new and stimulating background to show off some of the beautiful models available here.

So far, it seems to run fine on the machine I described above. If ever I complete it, I will consider its worth to the public at that time. I sincerely appreciate your interest. Very Happy

-Mike

Thanks, Moe. And I love the SP units too... They are my favorite over all others that I have in my collection.

Inside RABA Bus Depot looking west toward the Redding Station across 3 tracks

RABA (Redding Area Bus Authority) depot from the Observation Car

Moving under the Eureka Way/Hwy 299 overpass, paralleling N. Court Street toward the trestle...

Crossing the Sacramento River heading north to Seattle

Northward view of the I-5 Pit River Bridge over Shasta Lake (lower deck: southbound train)

Interstate 5 and the road to Bridge Bay, looking southwest. Southbound Daylight entering tunnel.

I have a lot of fun with this set ! By the way, the balding guy in the dome car on the left may have been modeled after me Wink
