Hello guys
in my 3 last freight packs i add many new cars with more details
BN
ATSF
SOOLINE
i receive many messages from guys who would like add only the cars without need
to buy the entire packs with engines and cabooses
Is it a good idea if i release only a freight cars pack with all the cars from this 3 packs ? _________________ Gaetan

You might as well, right? You've already made the equipment. Might as well package it in a way that might yield more sales. People not interested in BN, SOO and ATSF engines might still run the cars.
(That said, I doubt I'd buy it - I have a couple of other packs already higher on my wish list. I'm more of a northeastern kind of guy.) |

I prefer the pack including the locomotives. My vote would be for two packs, one with just freight cars, the other complete with power |

Hi All
I'm a Northeast train person but I would love to have those freight cars to run on my EL/DL&W railroad Dave |

Well, I think this is a true win scenario. I for one have certain roads that I do not run their power, but like any true railroad you are going to have many cars from various roads in your consist. Those that want the complete pack will get what the road built for them, and those that are not a fan of it can get the cars. Change is good. Skip |

I would package it both ways, railcars only and a package with the power. That way you can satisfy those who have no interest in the Road power but want a wide selection of railcars. |

.......... Sounds like a very valid request and an excellent idea. My feelings (as a purchaser of one of the packs) would not be hurt if you release just the cars in some type of seperate pack. Given the quality of the cars I can fully understand why people want them. .......... _________________ Michael Brown |

I'm all for it. One locomotive pack and one matching freight car pack. You can pick and choose what you want. Buy one or all. Give everyone a little more flexibility.

From my perspective, having regional freight car packs gives me more options for activity building, without requiring a boatload of payware sets. What I do now is use one or two max, then either have a prototypically weak looking single road train, or mix in lower quality freeware cars. Neither is very appealing.

I agree with Rick, we need a series of regional sets, but not just that, but also ones appropiate for different era's, such as transition, (steam to diesel), second generation diesels, and contemporary. That would work out to5 sets x 3 = 15 total sets.

That's kind of where I was headed Paul, although I wasn't considering "contemporary". The SOO, ATSF & BN sets that Gaetan was going to combine could be a 2nd gen West (or Northwest) set, for example. I could upgrade some of my previous work for a Northeast transition set (NH, B&M, NYC, PRR, LV, CNJ, L&HR, LNE, O&W, Reading, etc.), likewise for a 2nd gen Northeast (B&M (Guilford), PC, Conrail, D&H)

Regional/era freight packs would be nice. One thought- Open door empties, like Gaetan's freeware "I Love NY" boxcar set over at Ed's Trains. |

There are several directions you can go with this-
One- Produce more interchange sets based on available routes, such as the Maybrook Set.
Two- Set up a bits and pieces page where we can order parts of sets. That is, so someone could order just the RS units from the SP&S set or just the New Haven freight cars from that set.
Three- Produce industry specific freight car packs. Such as, a set of mid-western grain boxcar pack. Or a set of ice refers (produce and meat). Or if you really want to get into it, sets of piggy-back service flatcars.
Anyway, just a thought-

I would like to see a huge ala carte list were you could pick what ever you wanted. I'm sure that would involve to much work to generate an individual package for each purchase unless it could be automated some way.

Producing an ala' carte list shouldn't be that difficult. Seeing as each set is only a group of folders, all you would be buying are those individual folders that you want.
For instance:
From the B&O set, I could buy "BLW_E8_B&O" and from the Geep East Set, "BLW_GP9_B&O"and "BLW_GP9_NW". And perhaps from the NE Caboose set, "BLW_ZT_Caboose_WM". From the Troop Train Set, "BLW_ZT_E6_B&O". The common.cab and common.snd folder could either be included or made available extra.
Gaetan and Rick would, of course, need to set up some kind of pricing scheme. Purchases downloaded the normal way.
