Never had this problem before with a BLW train set, but the Western Pacific F7 set crashes the sim. I have a mini route set up for Feather River and standard MSTS and the trains as installed crash the sim in both instances.

I did set up the WP F7 sound file for both instances. Anybody got a clue why these locos crash the sim when none of my other trains purchased here cause a problem?

But interestingly will run fine on the CN Vegreville route. Also crashes on Feather River, which is the route I specifically bought these for. No idea where the problem is.

crashes with both default consists and one I created.

He erick..

Are you tried to change the resolution? If it doesnt help, so try to set off shadows... and if this will doesnt help also, so reinstall the feather river route to a fresh msts install directory. Some routes cant be installed together because they need a special global with or without any special installed trackdata files. And if you installing routes with different globals , so its possible that some routes crashed they installed before last.

Hi Michael. Feather River is installed as its own mini-route, so its not in conflict with any other route. Also this one crashes in the default routes, not the addons for the most part, except it does crash in Feather River and Monon.

I run full sliders on everything and usually dont have a problem.

Like I said, I own several train sets from this group, so dont understand the problem unless its something like a boundingbox issue or something.

Hello Eric

Using MSTSbin is recommended by 3DTrains for their route.

You also say it crashes on Monon, both of these routes do need MSTSbin to run successfully mainly due to the quantity and detail of their scenery.

When does it crash? A crash at loading time implies a loco install problem while a crash during running usually implies some type of MSTS overload (MSTSbin fixed most of these).

What type of crash? A popup message or system lockup or black screen imply different problems.

A computer description can also assist trouble isolation. Operating System, CPU type/speed, how much RAM memory, video card type.

To prove it is a single piece of equipment, you should use a consist with just the single piece of equipment.

It's very difficult to isolate a problem by just guessing what the cause might be.

Hi Gary.

I have the latest MSTS bin installed. The sim crashes about 3 quarters thru the loading cycle and it crashes hard to desktop, no warnings or popup boxes. If it did that, I could fix the issue.

Its funny, because it only happens on some routes. MONON and Feather River I run as mini-routes, as well as PRR-Eastern Region. these WP trains run fine in PRRE, but not on the others.

Main place I see this crash is in the default Marias Pass, NEC and on Feather River, which sucks because the Marias Pass and especially Feather River are what I would like to run these on.

I get the crash using the default consists (just the engines.) nothing special.

The stage at which the sim crashes is during the loading screen. It gets thru "setting up the simulation" then almost immediately does a CTD. I think it must be something to do with the shape file. The only loco I ever had a similar problem with was Dick Cowens Pennsy E8's. That was a shape file problem and the behavior was EXACTLY the same. Never fixed it... and ironically...it caused me to buy the Pennsy set from Valleypass and never looked back!

I dont have a problem running any other F7's or locos from this BLW/ZT at all. Just this one set.

Hi Eric

Crashing during 'loading' is usually pointing to something faulty in the equipment being loaded I think (if nothing else got installed recently).

I'm thinking the install messed up somehow. Try reinstalling the WP set again; you did mention Feather River is a mini install so make sure you're pointing at its Trains directory.

Not sure how. I did a complete reinstall and rebuild of my Feather River mini-route. Smile

Hello to all.
I installed Feather River route into route folder of TS installation I created for North American routes, thus togheter other routes ( a big number of routes ). I never got conflicts by that also if some time PC has crashed while route ( FR or other ) was charcing. One or two time crash has come up while playng some trains on FR, but by default activities and trains. No reason I know about that. Other time, about other routes ( no FR ), I received PC crash but I noticed the crash has been caused by "loose consists". In the trainset folder, some locos or cars that was put in a "loose consist" was missing. No always TS announces errors made by in "loose consists" missing files. Sometime one have to tell TS is really curious.
You can try watching there is some missing files.
But have you installed the WP upgrade? It is WP_Update_093008 and you can download that by 3DTrains forums in the download section.
In any case I ran some time BLW F7 but without problems.
I hope you'ld can play FR well.
Thanks.
Giuliano
