The blue/yellow paint scheme on the F3s, what is the history behind that? Is it the original paint scheme before the green appeared?

Yes, I've weathered it a bit. It was referred to as Tangerine and Blue.

The F3s were delivered in that scheme and I believe one Fairbanks Morse unit and the double-ended Baldwin passenger units. They switched to green and yellow in 1950, but many F3s remained in blue and orange into the mid to late 1950s.
