Nice shots Dave, I would say that Gaetan should look at these vintage shots and think of a Bonus Pack. What do you think Gaetan, love those are paint schemes. Skip |

I believe it would have been August/September of 1976.
The Rock Island had ordered 56 new GP38-2's from EMD. They were delivered in the "New Image" Blue and White paint scheme.
Or so I think-

Gaetan
The Rock Island could keep you busy for at least another full pack and a couple of bonus locos/cars.
You've still got the speed letter red and yellow Fs and Es but you've also got the maroon/white pin stripes as well as the "Chicago red" (same as the maroon/pin stripe but with a much redder maroon) and the maroon/yellow "wings" livery Fs/Es with the speed lettering as well as the maroon/yellow GP/9s/7s with speedlettering.
You've got the commuter fleet with the 2500 series Caponeliners (named such because they were hauling commuters when Big Al ran Chicago) the 2700 series( post WWII suplimentals to the Caponeliner fleet) as well as the Budd and Pullman Standard bilevel cars (easy one for you as the C&NW bilevels already exist and would just need a new paint job), throw in a standard rear coupola caboose, bay window or outside braced wood caboose and you've got a Rock Island Pack Vol.2 easy.
If you need any refferrence images let me know I can dig up a few no prob.
BTW as to the F3, that photo was more than likely taken towards the end of service and just prior to going to EMD (and the big roundhouse in the sky)as trade in so the painted over lower head light should be ignored and given the upper Mars light. |
