Or maybe include just a few CV boxcars for now, and release the rest of the rolling stock as a bonus? Or doing the CV cars and using existing cars from other sets? I understand completely on wanting to get this done with fast.

I do remember seeing CV paper service boxcars when I was growing up in the northeast. Newspapers and similar type businesses would get them. In fact, those are the only CV cars I can remember seeing!

David,

Same here, all the photos I have found are paper service (yellow doors) or general service box cars.

Shocked You really have my attention now, Rick. I'm a little Giddy over this set. I love the Maine Central and Boston and Maine, but the Central Vermont, in my opinion was THEE New England railroad, or what I picture it should be. The small towns, lousy track, aging freight cars, and high-hood Geeps (and ALCOs) with a simple but attractive paint scheme. What's interesting about the RS-11s is that they were RS-11/RS-18 hybrids. They had the Canadian standard of putting the dynamic brakes in the short hood and had light-weight trucks. The only true RS-11 was #3902 which was an ex Norfolk and Western unit. Weather they are 100% correct or not, they are looking marvelous. If you want to get close with the dynamic brakes, then you'll need to add a lot of louvers to the conductors side (if the long hood is forward) of the short hood.

Skip,

The only other style I have found in my search is the extended vision caboose. Gaetan and I don't have one, so the best I can do is to post a reskin of the original us2caboose over at trainsim.com.

Rolling Eyes Rick and Gaetan, a question....not being familar with Eastern Roads and especially the Fallen Flags, and for the route you have been creating the power for the question is...."Perhaps you can take a car here and there from various packs you have already produced that would have inter changed or ran through traffic on this road/route"? Rolling Eyes Would this not save you some time for the mini set and put less pressure on you two.....I'm sure that many of us do not own all packs thus the rolling stock would be some what of a new car running on our PC......Food for thought. Idea Skip

Skip,

Actually, we are going to do that here, Gaetan is 'recycling' some of his CP and CN cars for this set, and I have 5 new freight cars to add.

I'll admit I jumped the gun on posting the RS11/18. There are a number of 'issues' I need to address on the shape and the skins:

- Louvers on the short hood (as you mentioned)

- RS3-style radiator (the skin uses an RSD15 radiator, a left-over from the C&O set)

- Strobe lights on the cab roof

- More modern drop step on the pilots

- Shortened Fuel Tank with Air Tanks under the frame

There may be other issues, I will go back and check.

The last item is setting up the eng files with the strobe lights, etc. That will take some time, for both the Geeps and the RS11.

I still hope to get these to the beta testers within a week.

Rick
