another footnote: there were also 4 ex-LV GP18s, CR 7496-7499 which are outwardly similar to GP9s. _________________ Tim Baldwin

Tim,
I already had a 'Conrail Fallen Flags' set or two in my queue. A lot to work with here, for sure.

There are some locomotives worth being omitted because they were gone within a couple years, or in the case of the RSD-15s and RSD-15s, converted to MT-6 slugs. I can't remember what locomotives were converted into MT-4s. I think RS-11s. Others though lasted at least into the 1980s including the various ALCO Century locomotives. These lasted until new locomotives started arriving on the roster. Also most of the GP7s and GP9s lasted for awhile. Some remained up until the end, although as GP8s and GP10s, respectively. F units didn't last long. They were some of the oldest locomotives on the roster at the time and were just too worn out to do much of anything. The remaining E8s had their twin 12-567s engines replaced with 16-645 engines (making them essentially GP38s) and put into the Office Car Special service. ALCO switchers were also gone fast, again being old and worn. Several of these early retirees still roam about though, mostly ALCO Century units. The only thing that went faster than the ALCOs were the electrics. I really like Tim's idea on how to split the various locomotives up. That really does make the most sense.
Man all this talk has me giddy. I'm just wondering what Gaetan's input on this is? There's obviously a wanting by the community, and we have your attention, Rick. _________________ Thom |

Hey there ya go! A bunch of the stock can be patch work of models that already exist, with more being full repaints. I like the ex L&HR C420s, Rick. _________________ Thom |

Tom,
Not only that, I was planning an LV set, I can do the LV skin, then patch it for CR. Two for the price of one!!
I've been able to track down a number of good early CR photos. This should be a good one.
Thnx
