What would the chances of seeing a Conrail set be? I know both Rick and Gaetan are currently neck-deep in projects, but I'd like to throw the idea on the table. While Conrail may be a 1970s era railroad, there was a lot of first generation power on the road including F7As and F7Bs, E7A and E8As, GP7s, GP9s, SD7s (two actually), SD9s, and just about every model of ALCO... What do you guys think?

 Well you have my vote, great suggestion/request. I'm from the Midwest but I made a trip to CRESSON,PA. just to watch the CR before it fell into the ranks of a "FALLEN FLAG Railroad". Hope others back your request.....about time BIG BLUE was seen.  Skip |

That would be a "must have" pack for me. Most of my active railfanning was done during the Conrail era...

Guys,
A Conrail set would be pretty limited, we don't have any 2nd generation GE or EMD models. I'll add it to my list, maybe do a new poll?

Ah, Rick you missed the finer details of my initial post.  There is enough second and third generation Conrail stock in MSTS from your average GP38-2 to the unique SD80MACs to keep me satisfied. What's missing is Conrail's fleet of older EMDs and ALCOs. I'd love to see some of this older power in both bright Conrail blue and some of the rainbow of patches. Gaetan doesn't need to start going into second-generation locomotives. I'm rather glad he hasn't. There aren't many vendors out there that produce the older stuff. OK, OK. I get the message 
'Old' Conrail is OFFICIALLY on my list.
BTW: I am nearly finished with a rewrite of the PRR-ER "Broadway Limited" activity using the new Amtrak Heritage Northeast set. I hope to post it this week.

In the Conrail Locomotive roster of April 1976, there are:
F7A/B, RS32, C420, C430, RS27, C425, C424, S2, RS2, RS3, GP7, E7A, E8A, C628, C630, C636, RSD5, RSD15, RSD12, GP9, RS11, SD7, SD9, S4, T6, RS1, AND RS3m models listed in addition to second generation EMDs and GEs. There are also very few quality Conrail caboose models available...

Wow, that sounds more like "BLW/ZT Conrail Packs 1, 2 & 3". 
I am seriously interested in all three sets ...

Maybe this is where I get off my butt and do up an NYC/PC/CR N7 Bay Window caboose in TSM.....

Rick, I'm thinking of starting a poll with the various types of before mentioned locomotives, and letting people select what types of locomotives they would like to see... Sure I wouldn't mind seeing them, but I'm not expecting you to make ALL of them. Obviously it's your final decision on what gets put into the set, but I thought I'd run this idea by you.

That would be great, as would a Northeastern caboose in CR blue...
In 1976, the vast majority of Conrail's units still wore the paint schemes of there predecessor roads, often with very simple CR patches. Only one F7A and one ex-L&HR C420 ever received blue paint, and both were very simple designs with an italicized CR on the nose and sides and the road number.
One thing you might consider would be a Conrail and predecessors geep pack. CR had quite a variety of gp7s and gp9s, including 10 GMD GP7s (ex-C&O) and 12 GMD GP9s for the Canada Southern. PC, LV, EL, CNJ and RDG all provided units, with and without dynamic brakes, including the ex-PRR cabless B units.
A second pack could be made of Alco units. RS3s, RS11s, C424-425-430, and C628-630-636 lasted into the early 80s, and the ex-PC RS27, RS32, RSD12 and RSD15s would add variety to the pack. No S2 or S4 switchers saw blue paint, but at least one of the ex-PRR T6s received the same treatment as the F7A and the C420 mentioned above.
