Plan is to include a couple of Washington Terminal RS-1s (complete), one or two black RS-3s and an orange work train GP9.
So far, I have eight E8s, I still need to do an A-B-B-A set of F7s for the Empire Builder.

Great video, Rick !
Really captures that "rainbow" era when there was so much of "every road" plus the Amtrak repaints. When I was a grad student at Cal State Los Angeles, used to spend weekends in Mira Loma watching the "remakes" at the Amtrak passenger shop, as well as the UP mainline.
Looking forward to this one...

I may already be maxxed out on size, if not, a red-nosed E-9 could be added to the set. I'm not a big fan of the around the nose stripes, though

Hello:
This package brings back some memories of the mid-70s of taking the kids down to the old station in Santa Ana, CA. The consist was always behind an E8A and E8B numbers 416 and 451 or 417 and 452. Amtrak ran those engines for ages between San Diego and LA.
I think the inclusion of a B unit would be a real plus for those of us on the west coast.
The previews are looking great!

I am curious what you meant by "Surfliner”?
Surfliner wasn't even wasn't even a sparkle in Amtrak’s eye during the late 60’s, mid 70's time period. Please elaborate for clarification. |

He undoubtedly meant "San Diegan", also known as the Surf Line. The first streamlined San Diegan was built by Budd for the Santa Fe before World War II.
Under Amtrak the San Diegans were expanded from three trips per day untill they required multiple pages in the timetable. Service was also extended north of L.A. Years after that came the name "Surfliner". Still, it's the same venrable route as recently released in MSTS as the Surfliner by Jeff Farquhar, and The Schwede is correct that an early Amtrak "rainbow era" train would look great there.
By the way, there was no Amtrak in the late 60's.

Thanks dcarleton, I was thinking about that route. But I think we have to close our eyes for that modern San Diego tram or put some nice PCC car there...

Actually it's not too much of a stretch. The first red "San Diego Trolley" line started running in 1980, using DuWag cars. Amtrak had started in 1971. So the era covered by these sets comes close to the era of the San Diego Trolley.
