Great stuff, Rick! You're taking me back to the 70s!! I rode "Chief" to Kansas City in 73, before ATSF took the name away, and was real comfy in a REAL roomette. In the late 70s, there were one-three trips on the Starlight every year from LA to Oakland--had some friends in SF and relatives in SJ. Lots of memories of the ups and downs of early Amtrak.
Again, some really great work, and BLW continues to set the pace, assuring that not all my funds will be going to RailWorks.
