I really like the new Stowe Northern route, and with all of those Northern Vermont towns, this was a natural.
I'm patterning this after Gaetan's L&HR set. A few locos and cars for a few $$. At this point I'm thinking 3-4 GP9, 2 RS11 and an S4, some freight cars, a caboose.

I must agree, the Stown Northern is one nice little piece of work for a route that could match many parts of Our great land. Will be looking forward to you " mini-pack". Skip |

I'm going to ask the same question here that I asked over at trainsim...
When locomotives are equipped with flashing strobe lights (see cab roof), are they illuminated on all locomotives in a consist, or just the lead locomotive?

Rick, those look beautiful. The Central Vermont was a very unique railroad with a very attractive paintscheme that really made the GP9s and RS-11s look so good. I've been very tempted to start modeling the actual Central Vermont, but with no good route maps, and a mediocre level of talent in the route editor, I stop short. I eagerly await their arrival. _________________ Thom |

I agree, Tom!
That would be a great route to do. They used steam until the '60s, relatively short route (St Albans, VT to New Haven, CT), scenic green mountains, interchange with CN/GT (St. Albans) B&M (White River Jct), Rutland (Bellows Falls), New York Central (Palmer, MA) and New Haven (Willimantic & New London, CT).
Any route builders want to take a crack?

The S4 looks marvelous! Aside from boxcars and a caboose, what are you planning on for rolling stock? All the cars don't have to be painted for Central Vermont actually. I mixture of cars from Canadian National, Canadian Pacific, Maine Central, Boston and Maine and a few other Eastern roads would look appropriate for a typical Central Vermont train. Sorry I'm ranting. You just got me all excited over this set. _________________ Thom |

Tom,
That's a good idea. CV had very little rolling stock, it appears (at least, I can't find many photos).
I'll have to weigh that against my desire to get this out the door.
I have a lot of backlog and this was supposed to be a quickie.
