In celebration of Maple Leaf Track's latest release The Greater Toronto Area route, I did some screenshots with a combination of Valleypass freeware and BLW payware trainsets of both Canadian National and VIA.
First, Canadian National:
1. Here is Canadian National E9 1899 pulling a 17 car train out of Toronto Union Station in Downtown Toronto. This would possibly be the CN Super Continental, a rival Canadian transcontinental train of Canadian Pacific's The Canadian.
2.Now Canadian National FP9 6533 is pulling a northbound train from Hamilton, Ontario. It preety much could be taking passengers from the Buffalo, New York/ Niagara Falls area.
3. Now we have Canadian National FPA4 6788 with a train from Windsor at Aldershot, Ontario.
And now the VIA screenshots.
1. Back in Downtown Toronto, VIA FP9 5639 takes a long haul for its westbound journey. This would be what either the Canadian or Super Continental could be in the early years of VIA.
2. Now VIA FPA4 6767 is taking a three car train from Lincolnville, Ontario.
The next three are from Richmond Hill, Ontario.
3. VIA FPA4 6785 with a long hual train. They possiby have been used on both the SuperContinental and The Canadian in the early years of VIA.
4.Now in VIA colors, former CN E9 1899 takes an 80's version of the Super Continental from the west to Toronto.
5.This would be today's VIA Canadian with F40PH 6436 at the lead. The Super Continental was discontinued in favor of the Canadian using Canadian National trackage instead of its original Canadian Pacific route.
Enjoy! _________________ I have a two track mind. The Train track and a Nascar track.

Here are some more I just did today.
1. Here is yet another VIA FPA4 in action. This time it's VIA 6788 pulling a 3 car train from Georgetown, Ontario.
To be fair, the next three shots are locomotives and cars that came with this route. They are done by Maple Leaf Tracks.
First, The Government of Ontario Transit (or Go Transit) train from both ends.
1.Here is GO Transit F59PH 523 leaving Barrie, Ontario with the morning commuter run.
2.Now the same train on the afternoon run. This time, GO Bi-level Cab Car 239 dose the honors for the return to Barrie from Toronto Union Station.
3. Giving a shout for the freights, here's Canadian National SD70M-2 8005 with a westbound container train leaving MacMillian Yard.
At last (but not least) Amtrak's Maple Leaf leaves Toronto Union Station in the early morning hours bound for New York City. Amtrak P42 36 and the amfleet cars came from two different North American Locomotive Works sets (The P42 Genesis series packs and the Northeast Coridor Pack).

Here are some more shots I did recently. I used trains that came from Train-sim, BLW, Valleypass, Ed's Trains freeware, 3D Trains. and The Canadian Pacific web-site.
First up, shots from Downtown Toronto around Toronto Union Station.
This first shot is of a Canadian National passenger train of the 1950s. It is led by CN F3A 9000
The next two are of United Aircraft Turbo Train locomtive 123.
1. In the Canadian National colors.
2. In the VIA colors.
Now for some more modern VIA trains.
The LRC with locomotive 6900 in the lead. The locomotive are gone but the cars are still in use.
The next two are of the P42 Genesis. But they are in VIA, not Amtrak colors.
1. VIA 902 with a renasance train.
2. VIA 903 with a typical short hual train.
Now two shots of Canadian Pacific's The Canadian in two different schemes.
1. CP F7A 1400 with a westbound 1955 Canadian.
2. CP F7A 1422 with a modern livery version. This is how it would look right up to it's final day before VIA took over.
This last shot from the Toronto Union Station area is a rather odd one. Eventhought it would be commonly seen in the Canadian Pacific colors of 1976, this twin F7 unit would go Hollywood. This is AM Road F7 4070 and the Silver Streak. This repinted Canadian Pacific train was used for the 1976 version of the movie by 20th Century Fox. Canadian Pacific gladly allowed the moviemakers to use thier equipment after Amtrak refused to allow filming of any of thier trains. This train would be going along the Santa Fe route of The Super Chief as dictated in the storyline of the movie.
The last to Take place in Burlington Ontario with two different Budd RDC trains.
1. Here is Canadian National RDC4 6478 with a train with all four versions of the Budd RDC cars. The include a RDC1, RDC2, and RDC3.
2. Now we have VIA RDC2 6205 with three RDC1 cars for its train.
That's all folks! _________________ I have a two track mind. The Train track and a Nascar track. |
