Hi, just testing 1951 senator NB and got stuck just after leaving Baltimore. At MP 92.0 - Nort Point Yard I've got a red signal. When I use Tab for get permission to pass I'll soon facing another train with panto down (crew taking a very long break?).
The bad thing so far is that you had to drive so slow or you are way to early in Baltimore and that when you starting in Washington the brakes needs more time for relising. you have <30 sec before departure.
Using ZT-Cowen's GG1, lovely thing, hope they will get the right sound soon, didn't like that Acela breaksound (I'm using the sound from German engine BR 194, also made in the 30thies).
Can we expext more acts for NEC V4? Think NS Bussiness train will do fine there since NS have trackrights there.
Keep going guys |

An answer and a question:
Yes, there will be more NEC V4 activities, that's why I created the new bonus set for the PRR...
AFAIK, there is nothing currently going on as far as new sounds for the Cowen GG1. Is there something out there I should be considering and where do I get it???
Thanks

Hi Rick, about that sound I use is from a German company ProTrain that comes with one of their routes (since I speak germans I also use German routes). There must be some GG1 still alive and hopefully some will recording their sound - maybe some of the user in this forum can give a clue.
Perheps that sound from German BR 194 can be used for creating simular sound for those American 30thies electric locos (with permittions from that company). Testing another sound from a BR 144 (Euro TS DB 144) made by an English company First Class Simulation that makes this German oldtimer, sounds better for me.
BTW they understand English on ProTrain.
Any solution about my red signal problems yet?

The GG1 sounded like the ground rumbling when it was moving. Standing still there was the sound of the blowers, but not too loud. In fact, not even loud enough to block out the background sounds from the street.
The one signature sound of the GG1 was the horn, BAAAAAAAAMP, with a very pronounced attach and retreat. Mr. Cowen got the basic idea of the horn with the horn he included in the kit. The exact tone was like Marc's F unit horn, but as a very full bodied sound.

Hehe guessed that with all wheel it had and 2 of them running together...
Yup electrolok are very silense when not moving, only the compressor sound from time to time.
Another question about GG1, did they have both pantos up, think I've seen pics of that?

The Pennsylvania Railroad did everything by the book. The book said that only the rear pan was to be used, so that if it snagged the wires the broken pieces wouldn't damage the good pantograph. Only if the rear pantograph was damaged during a run then the front pan would be raised, and all the tower men would know to call in the motor with a broken pan.
The book also said that if the temperature was falling and ice could form on the wire, then both pans would be raised so that the front pan would scrape the ice and the second pan would make contact.

Anyone else got stuck there? Arrived to Baltimore only a few minutes early and departed in time.

Sorry, I dropped the ball on this one. Let me look at it this week and see what I can see.
