a small modification to make the diesel smoke in OR look more like it does in MSTS.

Exhaust1
(
0 4.52232 -0.9687
0 1 0
0.2 <---- was .1
)
Exhaust2
(
0 4.52232 1.1367
0 1 0
0.2 <---- was .1
)

also:

DieselSmokeEffectInitialMagnitude( 0.6 ) <--- was 1.6
DieselSmokeEffectMaxMagnitude( 20 )
DieselSmokeEffectInitialSmokeRate( 1.9 )
DieselSmokeEffectMaxSmokeRate( 48 )

For a more EPA friendly output, reduce the other three values to taste.

Rather than everyone changing the smoke exhaust output, on thousands of locomotives, would it not be more sensible to adjust the setting in ORTS to match the setting in MSTS. Steam Locos and Diesel locos all have different outputs which is reflected in the engine file.

IS there an option in ORTS for this or would that be a file to change in ORTS.. Question

To be honest I only use ORTS now because using the laptop the Intel 6000 cant display ground textures properly using plain MSTS though the main desktop is fine.

I have now found a bunch of settings that work fine so I just copy and paste them into the eng to replace the few lines but it would be nice if there was a fix on the ORTS side.

is the problem with OR, i have release thousands of engines who fit with MSTS but i can not update all this engines each time OR change something

OR is the best for all MSTS user because after many years of purchases for guys (route engines etc.. $$$$$ )

is the reason for OR need to be compatible with MSTS

I've used DPU Updater from trainsim for a while now to modify the exhaust outputs. I think the results are outstanding and provide variety and realism in OR more than mats ever could
