This almost never happened, and when it did, it was under the cover of darkness.
According to the log of Conductor Douglas M. Rice of the Boston & Maine, on December 10, 1963, a New Haven FL9 subbed for the usual CV or B&M power from Springfield, MA to White River Jct, Vermont hauling the 'Montrealer'. Thanks to Alden Dryer, who scanned the log books, and Paul Charland, who is capturing the mid-century Conn River Line, and several modelers and skinners, I can attempt to recreate this uncommon occurence!
In the lead, New Haven EMD FL9 (New Haven class EDER-5a) #2046 - my reskin of Dick Cowen model available at trainsim.com
Next (subbing for CN RPO 9694) is 'identical twin' CV RPO # 40 - from the BLW/ZT Central Vermont set - www.valleypass.com
Following that, a CN Combine - standing in for #7384 is a combine from Gaetan Belanger's club freeware CN set - www.valleypass.com
Next New Haven stainless steel Osgood-Bradley (Pullman) 8600 series coach. The log consist showed #8619, I've used the NALW model by Phil Moberg of #8603 available at trainsim.com.
The following two sleepers in the consist were NH 14-4 sleeper "City Point" and NH 6-4-6 sleeper "Pine Tree State". I subsituted 'Allyns Point". These are two early reskins I did of Gaetan's freeware 'VIA' set, available at trainsim.com
Finally, CN 6-4-6 Sleeper "Greenshield" brought up the markers. This car was represented by a sleeper from Gaetan's club freeware CN set - www.valleypass.com
This was fun to put together....
