|

I have been reading all the wonderful postings about the Alco Sound Pack, but have had no luck getting it to work . The problems observed after installing the Sound Pack, RSD15 Bonus locomotives and executing an install of the sounds to the SP Passenger Pack: no cab sounds, no virtual cab sounds, external sound is faint compared to other locomotives (requiring an elevation in volume levels) and the sounds that do exist are not on the same level as previous BLW efforts. I don't believe that the problem is the Sound Pack. Are there setting or conflicts that need to be considered--the install was extremely straightforward for both the core files and the specific locomotive installs? And, I have a stable of BLW and ValleyPass rolling stock. I am running the pack on a machine with the following specs:
Intel Pentium 4 3.4GHz
3Gb RAM
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2
SoundBlaster Audigy Sound Card
Bose USB Companion 5 Multimedia Speakers
MSTSBin 1.7.102222
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime, I will continue to enjoy BLW's locos with the "old" sounds--which are not that bad to begin with.
Thanks _________________ Dave Peterson

Wow ! very strange David
Have you msts in the default install folders ?
For the level of sound, have you an 5.1 card sound and speaker ? sometimes
the center speaker need to up level adjustment

Hi David,
Have you checked the sound settings in MSTS? You need the highest settings.

Thanks to you both.
I know that at least one slider on Sound was not maxxed. And, I will check Conbuilder.
I will let you know if it works or not.
Thanks again. _________________ Dave Peterson

OK Frits, you hit the "nail" --MSTS Quantity of Sound was set to Medium. When I set it to High, then the wonderful sounds started to roll; and wonderful they are! Thanks for the great work. You have added yet another layer of enjoyment to Gaetan's Alco stable.
Keep it rollin' _________________ Dave Peterson
