Hello,

First off, I would like to thank Gaetan and Rick for the wonderful packs they have made and the high level of professional customer serive they offer.

I have noticed that when viewed from different camera angles the textures on the sides of the ER RS3 and other rollingstock in the consist that came with the Maybrook pack are lit up at night. I tried posting an image that shows this annomaly, but the image does not show up in my message. I am wondering is there a way to prevent the textures from being lit up at night when when from different angles. The textures lighting up is a minor issue to me as I can always change the camera slightly to get rid of the lighting effect on the models.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Walter

Hi, Walter.

I've noticed the anamoly as well, it is most pronounced in locomotives that have gyra lights.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to try them.

Thanks

Rick

Rick,

We were tossing this problem around over on the TrainSim forum a few days ago. No practical solution was found, but there was a suggestion that the brand of modeling program might be responsible for this effect, since some other similar locos from other builders (supposedly) do not produce the anomaly.

We looked at the light cone angles and radii as having the greatest influence on the effect, diminishing with smaller spheres. But the forward illumination suffered from using lesser values.

TrainSim light anomaly discussion

Good luck finding a cure Smile

Mike

the real problem come from MSTS bug, the combination of shinning poly effect and engine lights

i don't know if openrail resolve this problem, maybe someone can try

I remember an extreme case from an Alco FA model over at trainsim, where one poly in front of the cab was dark when one side of the loco was lit, and bright on the other side of the loco when that side was dark....

I agree with Gaetan, maybe the OR project will have a solution!
