I've been re-working and expanding the freight cars available in the BLW ZT Central New Jersey Freight set. This has basically been inspired by Mark who has been making all the New Jersey based activities lately. I want to see him have a good stable of freight cars and not have to look at some of the older and not-quite accurate cars. This will be released as an upgrade/bonus to anyone who owns the set now or purchases it in the future. The set is available here: http://www.valleypass.com/Sales/CNJ.htm

First: do something about the three boxcars included in the set:

These are post-war 40' boxcars, but the older Murpy end is wrong.

Here is the upgraded version:

It's using Rick Franzosa's latest model with new trucks and wheels. The roof has been upgraded and the car now has the correct ends and brakewheel. Dimensional data has been corrected (the old version was from a PRR boxcar).

There are three numbers of this same basic boxcar. I gave one a somewhat weathered silver roof based on prototype photos. Must have been some variation as others showed painted roofs.

CNJ had some postwar boxcars that were 6 inches shorter. Since we've got a model in the stable that Rick made, I decided to add a couple of these to the set. One has the post-war CRP reporting marks representing CNJ's attempt to dodge New Jersey taxes. Here it is with one of the regular size cars in the background. Sides are a modification of Rick's artwork.

Note the earlier Murphy roof on this car (per the prototype). The car was built after the post-war improved dreadnaught ends came on the scene, but before the Murphy raised panel roof gave way to Stan-Ray diagonal panel roofs.

Chris & Rick,

I am also working on a few activities utilizing these new cars for the Lehigh Valley (Scalerail Edition) & LHR 1940s routes (Maybe the N&JC Route too) along for the Blue Comet Line & PRR-ER routes.

Just need to complete a few extra acts for the PRSL RDC Set that will accompany to 2 sets I released on 4/20/2017. Then I will complete these so owners of CNJ can enjoy this upgrade off the bat. Plenty of switching & some long haul will be included. Very Happy
